Born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio, Kim finally decided she could no longer stand the cold, dreary winters up north, so she packed up her husband Jim along with their two golden retrievers, and they became snowbirds. Upon her arrival in Florida, Kim promptly began searching for the ideal place for a self-serve yogurt store. And the rest, as they say, is history.
In her prior life, Kim was the Chief Administrative Officer at Progressive Insurance, where she provided oversight on a diverse set of corporate functions ranging from real estate management to the art department. After leaving the corporate world, Kim worked as a management consultant for Embrace Pet Insurance, a start-up company selling health insurance for dogs and cats. She soon caught the entrepreneurial "bug" and began researching business opportunities. She graduated from Yogurt University (reality check: it was a two-day class filled with a lot of yogurt tasting) where she learned about the finer points of setting up and running a self-serve frozen yogurt store.
Favorite Yogurt Flavor: Peanut Butter is yummy, especially with Reese's™ Pieces or Peanut Butter Cups on top, but Cookies & Cream yogurt is to die for!
Tom hails from Portland, Oregon, where he was a franchise consultant for a large fast food service company as well as an individual store owner. He set up numerous new franchise stores, so he is the perfect person to help us launch our Go Yo! store.
Tom likes to travel and has visited 15 different countries. And when he's not obsessing about what toppings to buy for the Go Yo! store, Tom enjoys rock climbing, running and kayaking. (Let's not tell Tom that Florida doesn't have any mountains to climb.) Tom is also an avid racecar fan and has made the pilgrimage to the mecca known as Daytona Raceway.
Favorite Yogurt Flavor: Based on the variety of flavors Tom puts in his cup, it appears that Tom likes all the flavors. He's a fanatic about fresh fruit though, especially the strawberries and kiwis. How about a few sprinkles to go with the rest of your toppings, Tom?
Jim wasn't too sure about the self-serve yogurt store concept until he visited a few and found out just how good this stuff tastes. And the bonus is that the probiotics in the yogurt help his digestive system. (Oops! Is that TMI: Too Much Information?)
Jim is a retired teacher and coach. He taught physical education and health for 35 years in the Cleveland Heights school system in Ohio. He also coached football, track, and wrestling and was an assistant athletic director at the high school. Jim says the key to his success as a coach was that the kids were more afraid of him than the other team!
Favorite Yogurt Flavor: Coffee, coffee, coffee. With some healthy almonds and a bit of coconut on top.
